Chris Cooley on the appeal of Redskins coaching job

(Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE)

For many years London Fletcher was the most important player's voice on the Washington Redskins, a role that eventually changed hands to Robert Griffin III. And while Fletcher retired after the 2013 season, his opinion still carries great weight for Redskins fans.

So when Fletcher offered some thoughts on the news the Redskins hired Jay Gruden to take over as head coach after Mike Shanahan was recently fired, fans want to know.

Fletcher then went on to address rumors that defensive coordinator Jim Haslett will remain with the team, or if Raheem Morris should get a more significant role.

And in a busy day for the former Redskins defensive captain, Fletcher spoke out on the man many believe will take over as Skins offensive coordinator, Sean McVay. McVay is just 27 years old and coached the Redskins tight ends last season, but is considered by many to be a bright offensive mind and an up-and-comer in the NFL.
