The Redskins have tapped Mike McDaniel as their new wide receivers coach, the team announced Saturday.
McDaniel spent the past two seasons as an offensive assistant in Washington. The 29-year-old replaces Ike Hilliard, who left after one season to accept the same position with the Bills last month.
McDaniel takes over a Pierre Garçon-led receiving corps that led the NFL in yards per attempt (8.3), ranked 13th in touchdowns (24) and finished 20th in receiving yards (3,422).
McDaniel was a member of the Texans’ coaching staff from 2006-08 and, according to the Redskins’ news release, worked closely with Pro Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson.
McDaniel was a wide receiver at Yale from 2001-04.
