Although Brandon Meriweather hopes to make his season debut Sunday, Coach Mike Shanahan believes it’s more likely that the safety will return after the bye week.

Meriweather, who is recovering from a knee injury, was limited in practice on Wednesday. Last week, he took Thursday and Friday off after experiencing soreness.

“I would say the chances are after the bye,” Shanahan said. “Is there a chance? Yeah, there’s a chance. But it’s more of a long shot.”

Wide receiver Pierre Garçon, meanwhile, did not practice and is also more likely to suit up after the bye, according to Shanahan. Garçon has missed five games this season because of a plantar plate tear in his right foot that he suffered in the season opener.

Linebacker Perry Riley was limited with the hamstring injury he sustained in Pittsburgh.

Practicing fully were cornerbacks Josh Wilson (shoulder) and David Jones (Achilles), punter Sav Rocca (knee) and linebacker London Fletcher (hamstring).
