2 Minute Drill: Redskins vs. Broncos preview
With all the focus on Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning many talented Denver players seem to be glossed over. Manning is certainly the star of the Denver offensive attack, but without talent around him, the offense would not be the threat it has become.
Wide recievers Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker are all off to incredible starts. Decker leads the team in recieving yards at 627 yards, but has only brought in three touchdowns. Welker, however, has only cracked the 400-yard barrier for recieving yards, yet has eight touchdowns.
Tight end Julius Thomas also has more than 400 yards receiving and another eight touchdowns. And before we forget, running back Knowshon Moreno has rushed for more than 400 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
What does it mean? The Redskins will have to focus on slowing down some of the skill players on Denver. Who should they target? To get a win, would the Skins have more success slowing down the big, physical presence of Demaryius Thomas? Or would limiting Welker's underneath catches actually slow the Broncos offense?
Skins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has stressed stopping the run all season. If Washington can slow Moreno, will that give the team its best chance to win?
Denver leads the NFL in almost all offensive categories. The Redskins won't be able to stop everyone, but let us know what player you think is the biggest key for a Washington upset in the comments!
