Richard Sherman proclaimed his status as the best cornerback in the NFL after his game-winning play in the NFC Championship game. Sherman's play sealed the game for Seattle, and his proclamation was greeted by many as fact.
But Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall, himself a strong corner, said that Sherman needs to slow down with his assessment. Talking with 106.7 The Fan Hall acknowledged Sherman is a great corner, but Hall credited the Seahawks scheme for a lot of Sherman's success. Hall also pointed out what a talented defense Seattle had, both at rushing the passer and defending the pass.
To say he’s the best corner in the game is a little bit, um … I guess screwed. Because I love Patrick Peterson myself, personally, just things that guy does on the football field is just exciting. But you can’t deny Richard Sherman’s numbers. His numbers have been amazing.
Some will say that since Sherman is playing in the Super Bowl, his best-CB claim is valid. But what about Hall's comments that the scheme helps Sherman greatly? Do you agree that Sherman is the best d-back in football? What about Peterson? Sherman did lead the league in interceptions, does that speak for itself? Let us know what you think in the comments.
