Before Richard Sherman appointed himself the best cornerback in the NFL, a guy named Darrelle Revis laid claim to the title. A few years back, Revis was starring in national commercials and the leader of a very strong New York Jets defense. Fast forward a few seasons and one major knee injury later, and it appears Revis is available to any of the teams in the NFL.
Short of a trade in the next two days, the Buccaneers are expected to release CB Darrelle Revis by 4 p.m. Wednesday, per league sources.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 11, 2014
Many rumors connect the Redskins with New England free agent cornerback Aqib Talib. Talib had a good season with the Patriots, though he has been injury prone in his career. Not to mention, at their respective bests, Talib is not near the level of player as Revis.
Revis played all 16 games for Tampa last season, made 43 tackles with two interceptions. With Washington needing help at cornerback, should the Skins make a play for Revis? WOuld it make sense to trade a late-round draft pick or just wait for Tampa to cut 28 year old? Is Revis a better option than Talib?
