Do Redskins need a defensive overhaul?
Brian Orakpo did not practice on Thursday, raising doubts about his availability for Sunday’s season finale against the Giants.
Orakpo, who left last week’s game with a right groin muscle strain, had been limited on Tuesday. The team was off Wednesday.
“If we feel he can’t go, he won’t go,” Coach Mike Shanahan said. “Rak, like the rest of our players, if he can play, he wants to play.”
The two-time Pro Bowler said earlier this week that he would do everything possible but also would not make a “stupid” decision. Orakpo is set to become an unrestricted free agent and, after posting 10 sacks this season, could be in line for a lucrative contract.
“We’re going to jeopardize his leg to play, for obvious reasons,” Shanahan added. “It’s a little sore, but there’s still a chance.”
