Mike Shanahan on the loss to the Cowboys
Brian Orakpo said he was still sore on Tuesday, two days after tweaking his right groin muscle in the Redskins’ loss to the Cowboys.
The outside linebacker also said he’s not sure if he’ll be able to suit up for the season finale against the Giants this Sunday.
“[I’m] limited,” Orakpo said. “We’ll see as the week progresses. I’m pretty banged up. It’s just one of those type strain injuries that you have to deal with.”
A pending unrestricted free agent, Orakpo acknowledged that he won’t be “stupid” as he mulls whether to play at the Meadowlands.
“We’ll see; I’m not going to be stupid,” he said. “If I feel good, I’m going to try and give it a go.”
Orakpo was injured in the fourth quarter while battling with left tackle Tyron Smith. After getting a stiff shove from Smith, he reached for his leg and immediately went down. He did not return to the game.
“I was kind of engaged and then it gave out a little bit,” Orakpo said. “You just got to be smart, man, you don’t want to be stupid, especially with the season not going as well for us so far.”
Orakpo also knows, given his contract status, this could be his last game in a Redskins’ uniform. But he insisted that’s not on his mind.
“I’m not really concerned with it possibly being my last [game],” he said. “We’ll see what happens once the offseason begins. Hopefully we can take care of the Giants and get a bad taste out of our mouths.”
