Tarik El-Bashir on Redskins coaching search

Tandler - Tarik

Although the Redskins are spectators in this year’s NFL playoffs, we know you’ll still be watching. So let’s have some fun predicting the outcomes, shall we? Here’s how Redskins Insiders Tarik El-Bashir and Rich Tandler see the games unfolding:

Chargers at Bengals
Sunday, 1:05, CBS
Bengals favored by 6.5

Tandler: If we were talking about predicting vs. the points, this would be a no-brainer—I’d be all over the Chargers plus the 6.5. But picking San Diego as a straight up winner is a bit trickier, especially in the cold and possible snow in Ohio. But no matter what the weather is I’ll take Philip Rivers, who since late November has won at Kansas City when it was 27 degrees and at Denver when it was 37 over Andy Dalton, who has never won a playoff game. The Chargers have been figuring out a way to stay alive for over a month now. They aren’t going to go all the way but I think they’ll survive one more week. Chargers 20, Bengals 17

El-Bashir: I do believe Philip Rivers and Co. have a good shot at pulling off the upset, but … my head says go with the Bengals. Yes, those Bengals. The ones who are 0-4 under Marvin Lewis in the postseason. The ones who haven’t won a playoff game since 1990. All droughts eventually come to an end, and this one should end Sunday. Cincinnati is 8-0 at home this season, including a 17-10 win over the Chargers last month. The Bengals’ defense will show up, as always. The question is which Andy Dalton will? The pickoff-prone version who threw four interceptions last week against the Ravens? Or the one who carved up the Colts three weeks ago? That’s going to make all the difference. Bengals 28, Chargers 24
