Redskins defensive backs coach Raheem Morris will interview with the Browns for their defensive coordinator job, a source said Wednesday.
Morris, who served as head coach in Tampa Bay from 2009-2011, joined the Redskins last January after being fired by the Buccaneers. His contract with the Redskins allows him to leave should he be offered a coordinator’s position elsewhere.
The Browns named former Panthers’ offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski as their new head coach last Friday, replacing Pat Shurmur.
Washington's secondary, hampered by injury and suspensions, ranked at or near bottom of the NFL against the pass for much of the first half of 2012 but showed improvement down the stretch as the team claimed seven straight victories and the NFC East title. Even with the improvement, though, the unit finished the regular season ranked 30th against the pass, yielding 282 yards per game and 31 touchdowns.
