The Redskins have agreed in principle to a four-year extension with long snapper Nick Sundberg, two sources with knowledge of the deal confirmed Sunday afternoon.

Sundberg is regarded as one of the top players at his position in the game. The 25-year-old also gained national acclaim last season for playing in the second half in New Orleans despite a broken arm he suffered before halftime.

Sundberg is the fourth restricted free agent re-signed by the Redskins. On Saturday, the team came to terms with fullback Darrel Young, tight end Logan Paulsen and linebacker Rob Jackson.

With Sundberg under contract, the Redskins have two thirds of their successful field goal unit under contract for next season. Kicker Kai Forbath is under contract through 2014, while punter/holder Sav Rocca can become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday.

Update: Sundberg tweeted out the news himself:

Just wanted to say thanks to the #RedskinNation for all the awesome support. #BestFansInTheNFL Couldn't be happier to be coming back.
