Shanahan: Santana Moss in wrong position

The Redskins are putting reserve linebacker Nick Barnett on injured reserve due to a knee injury and bringing up Will Compton from the practice squad according to Mike Shanahan.

Barnett suffered a third degree tear of his left MCL on a first-quarter kickoff. “Right now they don’t believe that it requires surgery,” said Shanahan. The injury will have him on the shelf for about six week.

Barnett joined the Redskins during training camp as a reserve inside linebacker. He has played sparingly on plays from scrimmage and on special teams. The 32-year-old will be a free agent in March.

Compton is an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska. He has been on the practice squad all year.

Shanahan also said that Brian Orakpo, who left the Dallas game early due to a strained groin, is day to day.

The Redskins still have one more roster spot available. They still have not signed anyone since putting tight end Jordan Reed on injured reserve last week.
