The Redskins claimed former Chiefs defensive lineman Brandon Moore off waivers, according to Monday’s NFL transactions report.
Moore, 23, is an undrafted rookie out of Texas who is listed at 6 foot 5, 317-pounds. He spent the majority of the 2013 season on San Diego’s practice squad before being released in November. He then was signed to Denver’s practice squad but was released by the Broncos on Dec. 31.
Moore, who began his college career at Alabama, transferred to a junior college and spent the 2012 season playing for the Longhorns, has never appeared in an NFL game.
He projects as a defensive end in the Redskins’ 3-4 scheme.
“Naturally large man with long limbs and good overall weight distribution. Scheme versatile. Flashes a powerful bull rush to push the pocket,” write Rob Rang of NFLdraftscout.com “Possesses just average burst but shows surprising straight-line speed once he gets going. Untapped potential.”
