Kyle Shanahan says coaching Redskins has 'hardened' him

Steve Spurrier served two rather infamous years as Washington Redskins head coach. He finished with a 12-20 record, resigning after his second year of a five-year contract.

Following his disappointing tenure with the Redskins, Spurrier returned to college football and has enjoyed great sucess with the University of South Carolina. During a media appearance for his South Carolina Gamecocks' upcoming bowl game, Spurrier was asked if he was surprised by the turmoil engulfing the Redskins.

Spurrier's comments came after he poked fun at his alma mater Florida Gators, noting they would not be in a bowl game this season, and his old archrival, the Florida State Seminoles. Long known for his wit, Spurrier did not disappoint the Capital One Bowl media crowd.
