Tarik El-Bashir on Redskins coaching search

With the Redskins season over, CSN Washington will examine free agents from playoff rosters that could make an impact for Washington.

Who: Chiefs at Colts

When: Saturday, Jan. 4, 4:35 pm, NBC

With London Fletcher retiring and Perry Riley slated to be an unrestricted free agent and no solid depth to speak of, the Redskins could be looking for depth and starters at inside linebacker. The Chiefs have a pair of part-time performers who are set to hit the market as unrestricted free agents. Frank Zombo is 26 and he is solid against the run and decent in pass coverage. Akeem Jordan is a couple of years older and he has a lot of the same skills as Zombo. Jordan started 10 games this season.

Might the third stop by a charm for Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey? He was a bust as the seventh pick of the 2009 draft. But as a low-cost free agent pickup for a team that needs wide receivers, especially ones with speed? It could work with the Redskins. Still, he played in all 16 games, starting 11, and top receiver Reggie Wayne went out after seven games and he could only muster 29 receptions for 309 yards (10.7 average/catch) and one touchdown. However, he is just 26 and his speed will make him intriguing and worth watching.
