With the Redskins season over, CSN Washington will examine free agents from playoff rosters that could make an impact for Washington.
Who: Colts vs. Patriots
When: Saturday, Jan. 11, 8:15, CBS
Last week we look at the Colts’ prospective free agents. Tonight, most Redskins fans will have their eye on Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib. He has a lot of what the Redskins will be looking for as they revamp their secondary. At 6-feet-2, Talib doesn’t give up much size to any wide receiver. He’s a ball hawk with 23 interceptions in six seasons in the NFL.
There is some downside to Talib that you may not see as he covers Indy wide receiver T. Y. Hilton. He has had trouble staying on the field; Talib has yet to play an entire 16-game season. This year he was listed as questionable with a hip injury for 10 of the 16 games. Talib ended up missing three of those games. In 2012 Talib was suspended for four games for violating the league’s PED policy. And there have been some other off-field issues as well.
So if you’re watching Talib tonight and you envision him in burgundy and gold this fall, just keep in mind the high risk that accompanies the potential reward.
