Shanahan on head to head hits: "It's tough in the heat of battle."

Wide receiver Leonard Hankerson injured his foot on the Redskins’ day off and did not practice Wednesday, Coach Mike Shanahan said.

“Hankerson hurt his foot playing with the kids yesterday,” Shanahan said.

Safety Reed Doughty (concussion), defensive end Stephen Bowen (torn PCL in right knee) and nose tackle Chris Neild (calf) were all limited to drill work in practice.

“You really don’t know, especially with Reed,” Shanahan said. “He’s got to take these concussion tests and it’s based on how he does on those tests. Like I said, that hit he [took] was …you don’t see a hit like that very often. I haven’t seen a hit like that in a long time in the National Football League.”

Tight ends Jordan Reed (hip pointer) and Logan Paulsen (knee) and center Will Montgomery (knee) all participated fully in practice.
