RGIII thanks Shanahan after news of firing

The Redskins have added a former head coach to their interview list. And it’s one with a Super Bowl appearance on his resume.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Redskins are slated to interview former Colts head coach Jim Caldwell for their vacant head coaching position. Caldwell is currently the Ravens’ offensive coordinator.

As head coach of the Colts from 2009-2011 Caldwell experienced both highs and lows. After seven seasons as Peyton Manning’s position coach, Caldwell took over as head coach when Tony Dungy retired prior to the 2009 season. The Colts went 14-2 and lost to the Saints in the Super Bowl.

But two years later, Manning missed the season with a neck injury. The team plunged to a 2-14 mark and Caldwell was fired.

The Redskins reportedly interviewed Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell on Tuesday and are slated to talk to Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott this weekend.
