Catching up with Chris Nield

Within hours after Jay Gruden was hired, it was reported that it would happen. Last night it was reported that the deal had been finalized. And this morning it was officially announced.

Sean McVay is the Redskins’ new offensive coordinator. He seemed to be Jay Gruden’s choice from the beginning and less than a week later the former tight ends coach got the gig.

McVay first job in the NFL was as a coaching assistant with the Buccaneers in 2008, when he served on the same staff as Gruden. In addition, McVay was the as tight ends coach for the UFL’s Florida Tuskers in 2009 when Gruden was the team’s offensive coordinator.

He has been the Redskins’ tight ends coach since 2011.
