With the Redskins’ 2013 season winding down, CSNWashington.com will be keeping an eye on the upcoming college bowl games and the NFL prospects who could be on Washington’s radar in the 2014 draft.

What: AutoZone Liberty Bowl

Who: Rice (10-3) vs. Mississippi State (6-6)

When: Today, 4 p.m.

Players to watch: There are two players on Mississippi State who could be on the Redskins’ radar: OG Gabe Jackson (6-4, 335 pounds) and RB LaDarius Perkins.

Jackson started all 52 games for Bulldogs at left guard and will play in the Senior Bowl. If the Redskins’ change schemes, he could be of interest. Meantime, Perkins (5-9, 195) racked up 495 rushing and 238 receiving in 11 games. The two running backs the Redskins drafted last season (Chris Thompson and Jawan Jamison) did not register a carry in 2013. Perkins has accepted an invite to the East-West Shrine Game.

On the Rice side, keep an eye on cornerback Phillip Gaines, who has also accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game. The 6-0, 185-pound senior projects had four interceptions and projects as a late round pick.
