After busting on Donovan McNabbs conditioning and study habits on Pro Football Talk Live with Mike Florio yesterday, Mike Shanahan shot down any chance that team would such issues aired for all the world to see. The Redskins coach said that his team will not be appearing on Hard Knocks, HBOs all-access show about one NFL teams training camp.I just didnt feel comfortable with being in that situation, Shanahan said. You know, I cant be myself. I dont think coaches can be their self and Id like players to concentrate on their job. I dont know if its old school or what. You know, for me I just didnt feel comfortable with that atmosphere.Shanahan said that HBO did want his Broncos to be featured on the first season of the show, but he declined the opportunity then as well.It is probably a moot point anyway. Shanahan said that the team hasnt been asked to be on the 2012 edition of the show. While it would be interesting to get behind the scenes at Redskins Park, especially to get glimpses at the development of rookie quarterback Robert Griffin II, it is for the best that the HBO cameras are not there. Although we seem to be getting past the point where there there is a new controversy every week revolving around the team, it would be wise to wait until a few turmoil-free seasons pass before even considering inviting company into the meeting rooms and locker room.Besides, the beat writers would have to invest heavily in new wardrobes to look good for the cameras. That would be too much of a hit during these tough economic times.
