Is the move to Richmond a good thing?
The Redskins have released reserve fullback Dorson Boyce in order to get down to the offeason roster maximum of 90 players.
The move was necessary after the team signed wide receivers Donte’ Stallworth and Devery Henderson as well kicker John Potter on Wednesday.
Two of the three roster spots were created when defensive end Doug Worthington and tight end Deangelo Peterson were waived/injured, also on Wednesday. Both Worthington (biceps tendon) and Peterson (broken foot) cleared waivers on Thursday and have reverted to the team’s reserve/injured list, according to league records.
Boyce, meantime, did not appear in a regular season game for the Redskins. Signed last offseason, he suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason and spent the entire 2012 season on injured reserve. He was expected to compete with Eric Kettani for a job backing up starting fullback Darrel Young.
