Would Art Briles be a good fit for the Redskins?
The Redskins have requested permission to interview Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell for their head coaching job.
Josina Anderson of ESPN reports that the Redskins have asked to talk to the 51-year-old Fewell. His only experience as a head coach was a seven-game stint as the Bills’ interim coach in 2009. The team went 3-4 in that time.
He was under consideration for the permanent job in Buffalo but he didn’t get it and moved to the Giants as the defensive coordinator. He had four head coaching interviews after leading the Giants’ seventh-ranked unit in 2010 but he hasn’t had one since.
Fewell joins a growing list of potential candidates for the Redskins job. According to media reports they have either talked to or plan to talk to offensive coordinators Darrell Bevell (Seahawks) and Jim Caldwell (Ravens) and Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.
