RICHMOND – Five days after injuring his left foot against the Titans, safety Phillip Thomas is scheduled to see a specialist on Tuesday, Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan.
Thomas, the team’s fourth round pick in April, will visit Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist based in Charlotte, N.C. In the past year, Anderson has treated Pierre Garçon, Fred Davis and Roy Helu Jr.
“Phillip Thomas is going to see Dr. Anderson in Carolina tomorrow, just to look at that mid-foot sprain,” Shanahan said. “Hopefully there’s no setback there, but we’d like a specialist to look at it just to make sure.”
On Saturday, Shanahan said he hoped Thomas would miss only a few days. Thomas was not on the sidelines during practice and did not meet with reporters on Monday.
