Redskins players have plenty to be thankful for

Tight end Jordan Reed says he’s confident that he’ll be able to suit up Sunday night against the Giants.

The Redskins’ rookie practiced for the second consecutive day Thursday. Coach Mike Shanahan, though, said he was limited in his participation.

“I feel great, perfectly normal,” Reed said afterward. Asked about facing the Giants, he said: “I’m definitely going for sure.”

Reed, the team’s No. 2 receiver, suffered a concussion in the first half of the Eagles’ game and was sidelined against the 49ers. Reed said it was the third career concussion; the first two happening while he was at Florida.

He said he passed the league-mandated concussion test on Tuesday but had begun to feel better several days earlier.

“It was mainly just protocol,” he said. “Taking care of me making sure I didn’t go out there too quick.”

Getting Reed back would give the Redskins’ offense a boost against a Giants' team that ranks 15th in pass defense. He’s amassed 45 receptions, 30 first downs, 499 yards and three touchdowns.

“We missed him a ton,” offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said. “Jordan is one of our best players. He’s as good a tight end as I’ve been around. He’s one of the main reasons we’ve gone from one of the bottom five in the league to one of the top five in the league on third down.”
