Ryan Grant, a former 1,000 yard rusher with the Green Bay Packers, signed with the Washington Redskins on Sept. 25, according to a report from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.
La Canfora said via Twitter that Grant joined the Redskins after mulling offers from other teams, including the Chicago Bears.
After cutting veteran running back Tim Hightower in the offseason, the Redskins entered this season at running back with rookie Alfred Morris and second-year players Evan Royster and Roy Helu Jr. Both Helu and Royster have been battling injuries this season, while Morris has been impressive through three games.
What role Grant will play for the Redskins remains to be seen; stay with CSNWashington for more on this story.
Grant began his career with the New York Giants in 2006, though he played in no games that season. From 2007 to 2011 Grant played for the Packers, rushing for more than 1,200 yards in both 2008 and 2009.
