The Redskins are scheduled to host former Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer on Thursday, according to Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports.
And, according to multiple reports, another Dallas free agent, defensive tackle Jason Hatcher, is scheduled to visit the Redskins on Friday if he does not cut a deal with the Raiders in Oakland today.
Spencer, 30, had a career-high 11 sacks in 2012 but suited up for only one game last season after undergoing microfracture surgery on his left knee in late September. It was Spencer’s second surgery on that knee in less than four months.
Hatcher, meantime, had a team-high 11 sacks in 15 games last season. The 31-year-old also forced two fumbles.
The Redskins have been in the market for a defensive lineman since the start of free agency. The team wants a better pass rush from its line, which totaled only 5.5 sacks as a unit in 2013. There are also concerns about defensive end Stephen Bowen, who is 29 and coming off microfracture surgery.
