Redskins coaches prepare for final game of the season
It appears increasingly likely that the Redskins will be looking for a new coach starting very soon.
According to a report in the Washington Post, “the writing is on the wall” for the dismissal of Mike Shanahan at some point after the team concludes its season today with a 1:00 game against the New York Giants.
One source cited in the report said that the dismissal of Shanahan, who is finishing his fourth year with the team and has a 24-39 record, could come as early as Monday.

Shanahan has said repeatedly that he and team owner Daniel Snyder would sit down after the season is over and discuss his future. On Friday the coach said that he had no meeting scheduled between himself and Snyder. Of course, such a meeting could be called at any time.
The report stops short of saying definitively that Shanahan will be fired. That means that Snyder either hasn’t firmly decided or that he has not yet informed anyone who might be inclined to leak that information to the media.
