Jay Gruden’s staff continues to come together.

On Tuesday, Gruden hired Brian Baker to serve as the Redskins’ new outside linebackers coach, according to multiple reports. Baker held the same title last season in Cleveland.

Baker broke into coaching as an assistant at Maryland in 1984. Since 1996, the Baltimore native has made NFL stops in San Diego, Minnesota, St. Louis, Carolina and Dallas. In each of those cities, Baker has served as either a linebackers coach or defensive line coach.

Like many on Gruden’s new staff, there is a connection to a key figure at Redskins Park: Baker coached alongside defensive coordinator Jim Haslett for three seasons with the Rams.

The hiring was reported by Pete Roussel of coachingsearch.com and Albert Breer of NFL Network.
