Robert Griffin III intends to appeal the $10,000 fine he was handed by the NFL for his attire following the Redskins’ victory over the Ravens, the quarterback acknowledged in a brief conversation Thursday.
Griffin was fined for wearing an Adidas t-shirt and sweatsuit to the postgame news conference. Adidas is among Griffin’s endorsements; Nike is the NFL’s official supplier of apparel.
Griffin often wears a suit and tie at the podium, but he had suffered a knee injury during the game and left immediately afterward for the hospital to get an MRI.
“That’s what the appeals process is for,” Coach Mike Shanahan said. “Robert will explain to who’s in charge that, ‘Hey, this is what happened.’ Hopefully they’ll look at it and say, ‘Hey, that makes sense.’”
