RG3 on Pierre Garcon: 'If he wants to race, I'm willing'
On Tuesday, Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garçon said Robert Griffin III’s knee brace is blunting his speed.
On Wednesday, Griffin challenged Garçon to a race. He was joking – we think.
“I love Pierre,” Griffin said. “If he wants to race, I’m more than willing to do that. Pierre is going to be Pierre, and I can’t really say anything about what he says.”
A day earlier, Garçon told ESPN 980: “Robert obviously can’t run as fast as he did last year because of his knee brace and his knee. …It's not gonna let you be the guy you are without the knee brace. When you have something around your knees -- the more equipment you have on, it's obviously distracting you or slowing you down from being as free as loose as yourself without any equipment on.”
Pressed to discuss the hinged brace that he’s been wearing since returning from ACL surgery, Griffin said the device is not having any ill effects on his ability to run.
“I don’t think so,” he said. “No.”
“The knee brace is going to protect you,” Griffin added. “I’ve gotten out of stuff this season, just like I did last year, in the pocket when it breaks down and I don’t feel like it’s holding me back.”
