Griffin III calms any fears of knee injury

(Associated Press)

Robert Griffin III left the Washington Redskins game after getting hit while throwing an interception late in their game against the Broncos.

With Washington trailing 38-21, Griffin dropped straight back and was hit hard by Denver nose tackle Terrance Knighton. The ball floated up in the air and was intercepted by safety Raheem Moore.

Griffin stayed on the ground for several minutes and eventually walked off of the field under his own power.

A few minutes later it was announced that Griffin had a left knee injury and his return was questionable. Following the game, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Griffin's knee was fine and that he could have returned into the game.

Griffin spent the offseason rehabbing after reconstructive surgery to his other knee, the right, due to an injury suffered in the Redskins’ playoff game.

He was having one of his worst passing days at the time of his injury. He completed 15 of 30 passes for 132 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. His passer rating of 45.4 was the worst of his career.
