The most important relationship in Washington does not stem from Capitol Hill; it's the Redskins quarterback and head coach. In 2012, Robert Griffin III and Mike Shanahan got along well and brought the Skins to an NFC East Championship. In 2013, the relationship soured as Washington limped to a 3-13 record.
With Jay Gruden now installed as Redskins head coach, developing a strong relationship with RG3 is paramount. Trust issues emerged between Griffin and Shanahan, and in his introductory press conference Gruden said he is happy to talk with RG3 and his family.
Reached today by ESPN 980's Chris Russell, Griffin said positive things about his new coach. He added that the two have talked and RG3 seems enthusiastic about the hire.
