Michael Jenkins reflects on 25 years of Jerry Jones
Robert Griffin III has been laying low this offseason. After a tumultuous 2013 which started with him suffering a devastating knee injury in early January and ended with him being healthy enough to play but on the bench (with a whole bunch of stuff you are well familiar with in between), Griffin seems happy to be getting ready for a new season.
He seems to be especially happy that the uneasy relationship between himself and Mike Shanahan is over. On Monday, Griffin was visiting Baylor, his alma mater, and he joined the Fox Sports 1 broadcast team for part of their broadcast of the women’s basketball game taking place on campus.
“We’re all excited. Everybody in the [Redskins] organization,” Griffin said (via Dan Steinberg on the Sports Bog). “Talking to my teammates, it’s not that we’re starting over; we’re just getting a fresh start. So we’ve got a new leader at the helm and we’re going to be a united front. And I think all those guys are really excited about what’s coming.”
The new leader, of course, is Jay Gruden, a former college and Arena League quarterback who may be more on Griffin’s wavelength than the old-school Shanahan.
Griffin is on a working vacation on Waco. He said that he was going to do some work with Baylor strength coach Kaz Kazadi. The former Heisman Trophy winner also found some time for some pictures with fans including this one with the Bears’ mascot.
