Last week Robert Griffin III made an appearance at Disney on Ice at the Verizon Center, prompting chants of “RG3, RG3, RG3” from the crowd.
Last night, Griffin made an appearance at the Oscars in Hollywood—well, his socks did anyway, on the feet of an Oscar winner. There were no chants but it did create a bit of a buzz on Twitter.
The award winner was Washingtonian Sean Fine, who won for having the best documentary short film. After the Oscars show he showed off his RG3 “No pressure, no diamonds” socks to reporters and tweeted out a picture.
Griffin acknowledged the tweet on his feed.
Fine isn’t just any Redskins fan. His grandfather Nate Fine was the Redskins photographer from when the team moved to Washington in 1937 until he died in 1988. Fine missed just one Redskins game during that time. Virtually any iconic image you see from the first 50 years of the team’s history such as this one was taken by Fine.
