Shanahan: Not 'right time' to talk Snyder relationship
Mike Shanahan refused to address reports this morning that said his relationship with Dan Snyder was strained to the point where he was on the verge of resigning earlier this year.
“It’s not the right time and place to talk about my relationship with Dan Snyder,” said the coach after his team took a 45-10 pounding at the hands of the Chiefs. “It’s not the right time and place to talk about something that happened a year ago.”
“I’m not going to go down that road.”
Shanahan said that his focus was on the next opponent, the Atlanta Falcons, and that the would talk to Snyder about their relationship when the season is over.
According to the ESPN report, Shanahan had issues with the Griffin-Snyder relationship, to the point where he the coach was ready to quit last January. He reportedly changed his mind after Griffin suffered a serious knee injury during the Redskins’ playoff loss to Seattle.
The Post report cited multiple sources in the Redskins’ front office who had negative reactions to the timing of the ESPN report. Many were wondering if Shanahan was trying to set up a situation where he could go and get the Houston Texans’ vacant head coaching job.
