Pat White strives to make QB decision tough for coaches
Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, who began facing the first team defense in practice last week, is expected to get the same amount of work in the coming days, according to Coach Mike Shananan.
“He’s had a good week of preparation,” Shanahan said after the team’s 30-7 preseason victory over the Bills. “He was in a lot team situations. He got a lot of reps, a majority of reps.”
Griffin jogged onto the field Saturday – in full uniform – 2½ hours before kickoff. He spent the majority of the pregame doing agility and footwork drills as well as firing dozens of short and intermediate passes.
RG3 has not played in the preseason and is not expected to suit Thursday in Tampa, either. But Shanahan said he remains on track to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season.
“There were no setbacks with his knee, so that’s a good sign,” Shanahan added. “So hopefully next week he can get similar reps and be ready for the Monday night game.”
The Redskins host the Eagles on Sept 9 – eight months to the day after Griffin had reconstructive surgery on his right knee.
