The Redskins have hired Larry Coyer as an advance scout and Aubrey Pleasant as an offensive assistant, the team announced Wednesday morning.
Coyer has 47 years of coaching experience in the college and pros, most recently serving as the Colts’ defensive coordinator from 2009-11. The 70-year-old also spent seven seasons on Mike Shanahan’s staff with the Broncos, including the final four (2003-06) as defensive coordinator.
As an advance scout, Coyer will study teams on the Redskins’ upcoming schedule and help Shanahan formulate a game plan. According the Redskins' website, the team now has eight scouts with the addition of Coyer.
Pleasant, meantime, comes to the Redskins from Cleveland, where he began this offseason as an intern for the Browns' offensive coaches and Head Coach Rob Chudzinski. Before joining the Browns, he spent two seasons at Michigan as a defensive graduate assistant. Pleasant also played safety for Wisconsin from 2005-08.
