While much of the focus will be on injuries, but with another night of bad penalties, are flags a real concern for the Redskins once the regular season starts?
In Monday's 24-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington committed seven penalties for 72 yards. The bulk of the penalty yardage came in the first half where the team was flagged six times for 62 yards, including a few personal foul calls for 15 yards a pop.
In the first preseason game, the Skins were whistled 11 times for 89 yards. That makes 18 penalties for more than 160 yards in just two games for the Redskins.
Will the penalties continue in the regular season? Does coach Mike Shanahan need to focus on cutting down the errors and mental mistakes? Or are the penalty flags on the players, not the coaching staff?
