Your Friday morning open thread:
In June, defensive coordinator Jim Haslett hinted that one of the team’s rookie defensive backs might be ready to start Week 1.
At the time, the comment was greeted with a little bit of skepticism. But after a week of training camp, it’s starting to look like a legitimate possibility.
Bacarri Rambo has taken all of the first team reps at free safety -- and hasn't looked out of place, I might add.
Cornerback David Amerson, meantime, filled in for Josh Wilson until Wilson was medically cleared to practice. And in recent days, Amerson has stepped in for DeAngelo Hall, who has a sprained ankle.
The most recent development was Phillip Thomas getting first team reps at strong safety during Thursday’s practice because of Brandon Meriweather’s ailing knee.
Based on the past seven days, it’s starting to look like a matter of when not if the Redskins will have a rookie starting in the secondary this season.
So here are today’s questions: Which rookie will get the first start? And who will get the most starts in 2013?
