Plethora of pass-rushers give Redskins options
Your Friday morning open thread:
On Monday night, the Redskins play their second game of the preseason when the Steelers visit FedEx Field.
Which player (s) are you most looking forward to seeing?
For me, it’s rookies Chris Thompson and Jordan Reed, hands down. Thompson was held out of last week's opener in Tennessee as he continues to work his way back from ACL surgery, while Reed was sidelined with a bone bruise on his foot.
It’s not guaranteed that they’ll suit up, but I’m hoping they do because both have looked strong in practice this week. Thompson has emerged as arguably the team’s fastest and shiftiest player. He also needs to make up for lost time as he fights for a spot in a crowded backfield. The Redskins kept three tailbacks last season and right now Thompson is one of six.
Reed, meantime, made a handful of nice grabs, including a highlight reel, over-the-shoulder reception on a deep ball from Robert Griffin III on Wednesday. His job is pretty much secure; he'll be one of four tight ends on the 53-man roster. But, like Thompson, Reed also needs to show that he's got a good grasp of the offense after being limited in the offseason due to injury.
It’s one thing to look good in practice. It’s another to do it in a game.
Who’s on your list?
