Your Tuesday morning open thread:
On Monday, the Redskins hosted the grand opening of their brand new, $10 million training camp facility.
And it’s beautiful. Gorgeous architecture. Floor-to-ceiling windows everywhere. Lush, green practice fields.
If you’re a fan, you’re going to love it. There’s just one drawback. It’s in Richmond, of course, and that means Washingtonians will have to make a two-plus hour drive down I-95. And that’s without any backups on the notoriously traffic-choked highway.
Rich Tandler and I left Ashburn around 9:45 a.m. and the trip took 2 hours 15 minutes door to door. The return trip – we left about 4 p.m. – still took less than three hours with a couple of short stops.
Not too bad. But it’s also not something I’d be willing to do more than a few times without getting paid to do it.
So here’s today’s question: How will the Redskins’ move to Richmond for training camp affect you, the Washington area fan? Still planning to attend? If so, how often will you make the trek?
