George Mason will face Oklahoma in the 2013 BB&T Classic at the Verizon Center, a GMU athletic department source confirmed to CSNwashington.

The first all-time meeting against the Sooners will also mark the Patriots sixth appearance in the event. Last year, George Mason lost to Maryland while George Washington defeated Manhattan. The Terps and Colonials match up in the other half of the Dec. 8 doubleheader.

In what turned out to be its last season in the CAA, George Mason finished 22-16 and reached the finals of the College Basketball Invitational. The Patriots are entering the Atlantic 10 next season with the bulk of the roster returning, including leading scorer Sherrod Wright.

The Sooners (20-12) reached the 2013 NCAA Tournament, losing in the round of 64 to San Diego State. The top two scorers from last year's squad graduated.

In addition to a new conference and a first-time BCS opponent, George Mason will play in the Diamond Head Classic from Dec 22-25. Others in the eight team event held in Hawaii include South Carolina, Iowa State, Boise State, Oregon State and Hawaii.
