Tom Wilson admitted Wednesday it was a little nerve-racking waiting to know if he’d make the Capitals’ opening night roster.
A few hours later he was told he was heading back to the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League.
“I’ve just gotten a lot of positive feedback,” Wilson said. “I’m trying to take in as much as I can and learn everything I can while I’m here.”
Wilson, 18, was drafted by the Capitals in the first round (16th overall) of last June’s draft , In 31 games with Plymouth he recorded 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists) and 59 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound right wing was recalled by the Caps on Jan. 12 to participate in training camp.
