In a minor transaction involving a Capitals legacy, the Caps have acquired a seventh-round draft pick in the 2014 NHL draft from the Nashville Predators in exchange for the rights to defenseman Jaynen Rissling.

Rissling, 20, registered 37 points [eight goals, 29 assists] in 54 games with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League this season. His uncle, Gary Rissling, 57, played parts of two seasons for the Caps from 1978-80 and carved a long career as a member of the Hershey Bears and Baltimore Skipjacks.

Jaynen Rissling, a 6-foot-4, 211-pounder, was drafted by the Capitals in the seventh round [197th overall] in the 2012 NHL draft. He recorded 117 points (23 goals, 94 assists) in 273 career WHL games.

The 2014 NHL draft is slated for June 27 and 28 in Philadelphia’s WellsFargoCenter.
