To pass the slow and muggy month of August our friends at Puck Daddy have created a series that details the defining markings of each NHL franchise. They call these The Essentials. J.P. of Japers' Rink (no relation to JP of CSNwashington.com) did the honors for Washington.
Now I'm not here to play spoiler, so if you haven't read it already, do yourself a favor. To amuse your bouche, here's an excerpt I found particularly delightful:
"For some reason, fans around the League tend to have a negative opinion of Dale Hunter, focusing on his on-ice behavior. It's understandable for Isles fans to, of course. Flyers fans too. And maybe Rangers fans. Bruins fans, too, I suppose. And Flames fans. And so on. Hey, when you rack up more than 3,000 penalty minutes in a career, you make some enemies along the way"
J.P. brought his opinions, and the funny, so I want to hear from you guys. Whatwho would be among your Essentials? I'll list the Yahoo! Sports categories, you give me your wittiestmost thoughtful responses, we make the ultimate Caps readers' list of Essentials. Feel free to provide your picks (and reasoning) for all, some or just one category that strikes your fancy. Have another category suggestion? Have at it. I did.
Post your picks in the comments below and help me choose the best by using the thumbs updown to vote on each other. I'll post the results on Saturday, so you've got 3.5 days to impress Judge Kellie and your peers. Feel the need to trick out your submission with photovideo or just feeling wordylonely? You can also send what you've got to kcowan at comcastsportsnet dot com.
Ready? Set? Opine.
