The Capitals have re-signed forward Nicolas Deschamps to a one-year, two-way contract, the club announced today.
Deschamps, 23, recorded 23 points [10 goals, 13 assists] and 28 penalty minutes in 66 games with Hershey and Toronto last season in the American Hockey League.
The Lasalle, Quebec, native finished the year with seven points [three goals, four assists] in 16 games with Hershey after being acquired from Toronto for defenseman Kevin Marshall on March 14.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound left winger was originally drafted by Anaheim in the second round [35th overall] in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He began his junior career with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and won the Michel Bergeron Trophy as the QMJHL’s offensive rookie of the year, and was named to both the QMJHL and CHL All-Rookie Teams.
