The Washington Capitals made another minor roster move on Saturday in signing forward Matt Clarkson to a one-year contract worth 525,000. Team general manager George McPhee made the announcement and notes the deal is worth 75,000 at the American Hockey League level.

Clarkson, 27, had one goal, one assist, and 193 penalty minutes last season with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. The 6'0", 190-pound forward was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the seventh round of the 2005 NHL Draft. He will likely provide depth for the Capitals' affiliate Hershey Bears as Clackson has yet to appear in an NHL game.

Clackson's father, Kim, played in 106 career NHL games with Pittsburgh and Quebec.
