When in the car with Ovechkin, wear your seat belt
In his first two games as a Capital, center Mikhail Grabovski has three goals and two assists, putting him on pace for 123 goals, 82 assists and 205 points.
But if you ask him, the 29-year-old center says he is still trying to fit in with his new team, both on the ice and off.
“I feel I can play better,” he said.
Since arriving in Washington, Grabovski has been living with fellow Russian Alex Ovechkin and his family. On Friday, Ovechkin’s father and Alex’s fiancé, Maria Kirilenko, watched the Capitals practice.
Next week Grabovski said his wife will arrive from Toronto, along with their car, and the two will begin looking for a place to live.
“I’m pretty comfortable in his house,” Grabovski said with a smile.
Grabovski has also relied on Ovechkin for rides to and from the rink.
Asked about Ovechkin’s driving habits, Grabovski quipped, “Like in a game, a machine. I wear seat belt all the time.”
