Capitals defenseman Mike Green left Thursday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets with an apparent head injury. After the game Capitals coach Adam Oates said Green would make the team's trip to Detroit and be re-evaluated on Friday.

With 13:17 gone in the first period, Green, 28, was slammed into the glass behind the goal line by Blue Jackets forward Boone Jenner.

Green’s head hit the glass and he skated off the ice. During a TV timeout, Green skated around the ice, then retreated to the visiting dressing room and did not return.

Green leads all Caps defensemen with 30 points [seven goals, 23 assists] and is second behind John Carlson in ice time with a 23:12 average, but he has a history of concussions.
